📜 History
Red Dog, also called “In-Between” or “Acey-Deucey”, traces back to an old card game that was already popular in the US in the 1920s.
As a casino table game it was standardised in the 20th century. Today it is less common, but it can still be found online.
🌍 Where popular today
Red Dog used to be found in many American casinos, but it has become rare there today.
Online the game lives on, because its rules can be explained very quickly and a round takes only seconds.
🎯 Rules
Two cards are turned face up. The “spread” is the number of ranks between them.
You win if the third card has a rank between the first two. The smaller the spread, the higher the payout.
📊 Odds & maths
The house edge with a standard deck is about 3.2%. A spread of 1 pays the most but is the hardest to hit.
If the first two cards are a pair there is no bet — unless the third card forms a three of a kind, which pays high.
✨ Beginner's guide
Never played Red Dog? You make no decision — deal the cards, see the spread, draw the third card.
