Pai Gow Poker is well established in the casinos of Las Vegas and California, and is especially popular with players who want to stay at the table a long time.
Online it is rarer than blackjack or roulette, but it has a loyal following that values its slow pace.
You receive seven cards and split them into a high five-card hand and a low two-card hand. The high hand must be stronger than the low one.
Both hands are compared against the banker's. You only win if both of yours beat the banker.
With optimal splitting the house edge is about 2.5% to 2.7%. A large share of rounds end in a push, because one hand wins and the other loses.
On a win, a 5% commission is charged on the winnings — similar to the Banker bet in baccarat.
Never played Pai Gow Poker? In this learning version your optimal split is made automatically so you can focus on the outcome.
“Push” is very common here — that is normal and part of the game's relaxed character. Practise here risk-free with virtual coins.
