📜 History
Craps evolved from the English game “Hazard”, which dates back to the Middle Ages. French settlers brought a simplified form to North America.
In the US the game became popular through the 19th and 20th centuries — first on the street, later as a fixed table game in the casinos of Las Vegas.
🌍 Where popular today
Craps is one of the loudest and most social games in the casino — the whole table cheers or groans together with every roll.
It is most common in the United States. Online and in European casinos it is rarer, but it keeps a loyal following.
🎯 Rules
The first roll is called the come-out. A 7 or 11 wins immediately; a 2, 3 or 12 loses immediately.
Any other number becomes the “point”. After that you win if the point rolls again before a 7 appears.
📊 Odds & maths
The Pass line bet has a house edge of just 1.41% — one of the best bets in the entire casino.
On the come-out a 7 or 11 wins on 8 of 36 rolls; a 2/3/12 loses on 4 of 36. The remaining numbers set the point.
